I’m Julia, a German handpan artist, photographer and filmmaker, creating music and visual journeys inspired by nature, stillness and the many layers of human emotion.

My approach to music is rooted in simplicity. Rather than filling every moment with sound, I’m interested in what happens when we leave space, truly listen, allow a melody to unfold intuitively, and let silence become part of the music itself.

I believe music doesn’t always need to be complex to move us. Often, it’s a single note played with intention or a subtle change in dynamics that carries the most feeling. Much of what I create is improvised and guided by the atmosphere of a place, the emotions present in that moment, and tapping into deep listening, rather than knowing where the music needs to go.

Before the handpan became the center of my work, I spent many years as a photographer. That way of seeing still shapes everything I create today. I’m fascinated by colour, atmosphere and the way an image can hold a feeling without having to explain it. Through filmmaking, I bring these two worlds together: creating visual spaces around the music that invite you to slow down, notice, and be present.

There is room in my music for softness and calm, but also for melancholy, longing, grief and the quieter emotions we sometimes try to move away from. I find a profound kind of beauty there. My intention isn’t necessarily to change what we are feeling, but to create a space where we can meet it.

Through everything I create, I hope to offer moments of stillness, connection and feeling, and to remind you of the beauty that is already here when we slow down enough to notice it.
